I agree with you Liam about having a gallery, and I was thinking something photo related might just do the trick. I'm not sure if I'd be able to make a gallery as such; I will have to look into that when I return from Norfolk. If I am unable to do that then it has always occured to me that we could have a competition for best photograph or hold some other competition that isn't yearlist related. What do you guys think? ;)

Sorry, I won't be able to respond until I get back now, but please feel free to suggest your thoughts on what I have said above plus anything else that you feel may help boost the blog's activity.

well, I'll get out me traps and send a Yellowhammer or two up your way;)B :)

for a minimal extra price I'll even send up some part-yellow birds, Blue Tit, Great Tit and Goldfinch8-P

P.S my traps are all totally humane, I lure out a male yellowhammer, with the scent of horny female bunting on my hand, hypnotize him and send him on his way;):smoke:

Ooh please do. Whilst you're at it if you could find me a yellow type House finch that'd be ace... I'm slightly concerned as to how you get the "scent of horny female bunting" on your hand. There are somethings which are probably better left unsaid :-O

indeed.

but this isn't one of them!;)

however, I have just been told by my legal team that I am not at liberty to reveal this information. It should be appearing in a Dan Brown novel soon though:smoke:

LOL GW!
I have just had an idea: A school list or the like we could do, including the travel to school, possibly in the form like the yearlist challenge or another thread of the like, seen as though we spend most of our time there:storm:
Any ideas???

I think we should make a list of our lists so we can tick ticks whilst we tick ticks... Anyway I'm off out now. God save us all.

most sensible thing I've heard all day!;)

however I reckon school lists would be an interesting idea, but I too am not too sure of how to set it up. I doubt many people keep school lists currently anyway, so perhaps it would be more sensible to start listing from when a thread is started? anyway, I'll see what people think, and may start it up soon if no-one else does.

Yeah, I've seen Buzzard from my school and what I'm sure was a ring billed gull that flew off before I could get a decent look at it... Not bad for a london comprehensive. As my school overlooks a park I've seen the likes of GS woodpeckers and coal tits from in class. Thankfully being on study leave at the moment I don't have to go back to the horrible place except for exams. I'd be interested to hear what other people have seen from their schools though.

Edit: Oh and I am actually off out now. I fell asleep earlier. Good sign for an exciting friday night...

my faves from school have been;
Sandwich Tern overhead,
intermedius LBBG/Baltic Gull (without a doubt it is the former but I like to dream!)
Kittiwake!-they breed a few hundred metres away on cliffs and come spring will take grass from the fields as nest-lining
Skylark-a few on the fields this winter
plus singing Whitethroat and Linnet within a stones throw
and in autumn, a little bit of vis-migging has produced Tree Pipit, Yellow Wag, Grey Wag, Redwing, Brambling, Redpoll and Siskin. and walking to school I've seen Waxwing, Redstart, Ring-necked Parakeet, Spotted Flycatcher, Firecrest and Fulmar

what have the rest of us seen?

I've had Buzzard, Red Kite, Osprey, Hobby, Peregrine, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel over my school in Hertfordshire. My school has a nice bit of woodland and a few playing fields so on passage I've managed Redstart, Spotted Flycatcher, Brambling and Yellow Wagtail. Its also fairly near a large reservoir so waterbirds are common overhead and have included Shelduck and oddly a flypast kingfisher.

I did one thread like that. http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=168931

hehe, mostly my school is pretty good but a few people on weed, a few more drink, a few more smoke, and I'm pretty sure a lot of parents don't know what their kiddies are getting up to upstairs!

Oh and Ash is in Cornwall. Most of the drug dealers probably can't find their way there!

haha interesting direction this thread is going :-O mines got allot of smokers but mainly it's girls who are more orange than umpa lumpas :-O

Warning! This thread is more than 10 years ago old.
It's likely that no further discussion is required, in which case we recommend starting a new thread. If however you feel your response is required you can still do so.
