I laugh as well, $1000 and still have clunky eyecups after years of complaints 😜.The eyecups on Conquests are great. The take a Little extra effort to move but will Never slip down like so many others including Alphas. Zeiss provides free ones that are a little taller than the stock ones and eliminates blackouts for people like me who bury the eyecups into their eye sockets to stop outside light coming into the ocular lenses and causing glare and internal reflections. They also come out for easy cleaning of the ocular lenses. I have to laugh when I hear complaints about them.
It seems as though this longer eyecup business happens only in the USA. Never heard or read of it here in EU.I’ve just recently purchased some unused Zeiss 10x42 Conquest HD binoculars. I called Zeiss customer service and they will give you a code to use to purchase the extended eyecups for just the cost of shipping ($11.00). The extended eyecups allow you sink the binoculars deeper into your eyes preventing stray light from entering. The eyecups extend out into three additional positions. There is some resistance changing from one position to the next. There is a positive outcome to this resistance. Once the eyecups are in place they are unlikely to slip out of place inadvertently.
Apparently there were complaints that the eyecups didn’t extend long enough and the binocular had to be held back a bit from your eyes to properly focus (I’ve seen this issue expressed in several reviews of the binocular). In the USA Zeiss gives you the option of receiving the extended eyecups at a nominal cost.It seems as though this longer eyecup business happens only in the USA. Never heard or read of it here in EU.
Yes, I know what this is about (see #2), but I was commenting that getting long ones from Zeiss only seems to happen in the US of A. I have never heard or read of Zeiss here in the EU sending out longer eyecups. Or even having them for purchase.Apparently there were complaints that the eyecups didn’t extend long enough and the binocular had to be held back a bit from your eyes to properly focus (I’ve seen this issue expressed in several reviews of the binocular). Write to Zeiss in uk, and they will send a long relief set of eyecups. They extend about twice as far.Yes, I know what this is about (see #2), but I was commenting that getting long ones from Zeiss only seems to happen in the US of A. I know yes, I was just making an example that it's possible in UK.Great idea ... except the UK is not in the EU. I ordered a tripod from 3leggedThing once. Never again will I order anything from the UK (or generally from outside of the EU), what with duties and import and whatnot. Most annoying experience ever. Two years later we're still talking to UPS through our lawyers.
