Swarovski eye candy... (5 Viewers)

That’s a really nice story and some lovely pictures. Looking forward to the old pictures with the 8x30 and wondering what kind of tea? Is in the beautiful handcrafted wooden bowl 🤔
It’s black tea with blueberries and blue mallow. The bowl is made out from birch burl by a local guy. I can say that it’s taste very good and a feel of peacefulness is flowing into the body when drinking from the bowl.

Wow -- great photos of some incredible scenery. Have to ask: what was the distance of the route you took and what mountains are those? Approx. elevation where you took those photos? Thanks.
This year I walked with my 8 and 12 years kids so we took a short route of totally 23km in two and half days. The hike 10 years ago I walked alone and made somewhere between 75-85km in 3 and half days. I also come there with fatbike 5 years ago. Those mountains is located in the middle west of Sweden. Pictures is taken approximately 900 meters above sea level.

That’s a good point thanks, I need to hear that otherwise I get obsessed with buying another pair 🤦‍♂️
You already have a very nice selection of binoculars! A lightweight 8x32, a pocket 7x21, a 8x42 for the most pleasant views and really nice for dim light and a 12x42 for longer distances!
I would be very very happy with what you have. Keep the EL 8x32! I have a NL 10x32, but would have been very happy with the EL 10x32 as well. It wasn't sold new by then anymore. I was attracted to the bigger FOV of the NL, but now I have them the large FOV is a bit overrated imo. I have the EL 10x50 as well and 115mm FOV is large enough for me (compared with the 132mm of the NL 10x32). I do not like the head rest. I bought it and sold it again.
The focuser of the NL is really smooth and the position of it is better as well. That's true!

I am a 10 power person, so the only bins I miss in your lineup is a 10 power. I miss a Habicht too, so a Habicht 10x40 would be a nice addition! :)

Jan van Daalen of house of outdoor is the man to go for binoculars and scopes.
I think House of Outdoors has the most Habichts in stock, so when I decide to buy one, I will definitely go to Maarssen! I want to test them all before I decide which one I want to buy (7x42, 8x32, 10x40, leather or gummi).

ReinierB, post 49,
We have investigated all Habicht models , the results can be found on the WEB-site of House of Outdoor.
Personally I like the 7x42''s a lot, but they are all excellent. As far a I know Jan van Daalen has all models available both with rubber armor as well as the ones with black leather armor.

What do you mean by that more precisely ?....
Well, maybe I have to say: I did overrate it. I really thought that a huge FOV would be really really nice.
Now I have the EL 10x50 with 115mm and the NL with 132mm FOV. The bigger FOV of the NL doesn't bother me in practice. I prefer the view through the EL's and I think that is because of the bigger exit pupil (and less glare).
So, a large FOV / AFOV is nice! However, "large" is sufficient, "huge" doesn't do a lot to me.

Thanks, and very wise words, I guess the head rest is a bit marmite, I used to use wear a cap and use that to stabilise my binoculars but I find the headrest works well for me.
I guess I am missing a 10x and I have considered a El 10x32 if one comes up at a good price.
I tend to use the NL12 on a tripod and it gives a fabulous view but find it still a little shaky for any length of time hand held where as I prefer the stability of the 8s for any length of time in the field.

I understand exactly what you mean, it’s not a huge jump where it pops out at you. Take the 8x32 EL and NL for example theres 0.5° Difference in FOV, it really isn’t visually that much of a difference. We’re talking about 26 feet at a 1000 yards, at 75 yards it’s barely noticeable. Don’t misunderstand me , a larger FOV if all things are equal is a nice thing. But spending $1000 plus for a 1/2 a degree in FOV is sometimes not worth it. I understand there’s more than just the FOV increase in these two examples but again the former already has a large FOV for the genre, the build is the same except for a slightly smoother focuser it’s not so profound. It’s not like were paying for a visual image like the true SWA vintage binoculars of yesteryear. Those have a completely different visual experience of FOV, it’s on a different scale when comparing them to the EL or NL. 10 to 12° is completely on another level.
