Three new birds today, so I'm now up to 159.

157. Bank Swallow
158. Spotted Sandpiper
159. Pine Warbler

The warbler was in a flowering deciduous tree in my yard, and was a new bird for my yard list. Although there is a big stand of white pines on the neighboring property (which it probably came from), there are only a couple of spruces in my yard. This was the first time I've ever seen a Pine Warbler that wasn't in pines.

Congratulations Chris on your Forest Owlet, you don't need an assistant by any chance?o:D

Thanks Andy. It was one of those ( many ) birds on my "I'm going to see one of them before I even think of dying " list. ;) Regarding places other than Japan and UK, I've only got Beijing ( with a couple of days at Xiolangmen ) and Sydney ( probably try to sqeeze a day in at Royal NP ) left for this year - and you wouldn't like either of them. Honest :-O

swamp sparrow
ring-necked pheasant (female, Branched Oak)
cinnamon teal
Eurasian collared dove (Eagle)
White-based Ibis (Whitehead Saline Wetland Lincoln)...also lifer

Managed to get out of Uppsala for the day to the island of Gräsö. Picked up 9 new birds for the year.

136. Whooper Swan

138. Northern Wheatear
139. Common Redshank
140. Red-breasted Merganser
141. Common Tern

Next week I'll be back doing field work on Öland, so my list will get a much needed boost. Things have been pretty stagnant thus far.

Peter your type of list is so awesome! Really should be an inspiration for us all to do green lists.

:t: I'm going to be far too busy, I have to go to Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, purely for fun;) My wife wants to see a family of elephants, nothing to do with the 296 possibles I've yet to tick there:-O

least sandpiper
dunlin
90 short-billed dowitcher

I was a little hesitant to call the dowitcher. It would be the first week the short billed is usually seen here. It's also the only dowitcher I've seen this spring.

The day started off with the first hummingbird of the year at my feeder.

161. Ruby-throated Hummingbird

Then on my way home from work I stopped for a few minutes at a local hotspot and picked up a couple more new birds.

162. American Redstart
163. Green Heron

Unexpected year tick on my walk into work this morning.

145. Wood Warbler

This is usually last of the three common Phylloscopus Warblers to arrive. Yet I've not seen or heard a peep from Chiffchaffs or Willow Warblers yet!
