Carl Zeiss Jena servicing (1 Viewer)

I have a nice pair of Carl Zeiss Jena 8x30s made in the GDR circa 1957. I was wondering if Zeiss would service these binoculars even though they carry the Carl Zeiss name, but are not true Zeiss, as per the current company?

If so, would they likely update the optics if necessary?

East Coast Binocular Repairs say they have temporarily stopped repairs of any non Zeiss West binoculars due to a backlog.

Unless the Zeiss Jena 8x30 is of sentimental value, I don't think it is worth repairing, unless a very rare example.

It would be better to buy a later internally clean well aligned secondhand Jena 8x30 with better coatings.
Maybe £80.

Or a good example of a Soviet/Russian 8x30.
Maybe £40.

I was thinking as to whether it is worth it, or just keep them as back up as they are.
They were my father's, so I don't want to part with them.

Yes, just keep the Zeiss Jena 8x30 as is.

So long as there is no internal fungus it should be O.K.

Store in a temperature greater than 13C and humidity less than 60%, preferably less than 40% if possible.
