Returned to Lithuania to the coldest night of the winter so far, a pleasant crisp minus 24 C at dawn, rising to an almost tropical minus 16 C in the afternoon sunshine.
Saw 120 species on 1 January in Mexico, got a grand total of 12 on my first day here Highlights, 45 Yellowhammers still at the grain feeder, a nice adult White-tailed Eagle peering down at frozen waters and Great Grey Shrike actively hunting Great Tits at the peanut feeders, one Sparrowhawk too doing the same.
