Garden / Yard List 2024 (3 Viewers)

Returned to Lithuania to the coldest night of the winter so far, a pleasant crisp minus 24 C at dawn, rising to an almost tropical minus 16 C in the afternoon sunshine.

Saw 120 species on 1 January in Mexico, got a grand total of 12 on my first day here :) Highlights, 45 Yellowhammers still at the grain feeder, a nice adult White-tailed Eagle peering down at frozen waters and Great Grey Shrike actively hunting Great Tits at the peanut feeders, one Sparrowhawk too doing the same.

5. Great Tit
6. Blue Tit
7. Marsh Tit

Level pegging at 40 same date as last year, still awaiting a drop in temps to stir things up.
Just the usual suspects to include poor man’s Water Thrush.🤣……we live in hope.

With my 'big day' of 33 species on 1st I am hopefully on course for a new record total for January, average total for the whole month over our 7 years here is 37 and I'm already there! The best ever January I had brought me 41 species, surely I can find 5 more in the next 23 days to beat that 🤞
