Hi All. Pocket Bino Experience Needed. (1 Viewer)

True, but the newer ones are less exposed. A few millimeters. I guess they made it better.

True, not a that pocketalble.
But better view.
And back to square one!!
Pocketable binos are not as good or easy to look through as slightly bigger ones... I'm sure we can all agree on that.

And VP8x25's aren't as good or easy as 8x32's...
And good 8x32's aren't as good or easy as 8x42s...
And......

To be honest, the VP8x25 are probably sharper than many x32 instruments.

Before I got the Zeiss 8x25 Victory, I would have agreed about the 8x25 vs 8x32, and I would have argued that all size effects were incremental. As an eyeglasses wearer, the too-small and maybe too short eyecup size of the Zeiss 8x25 Victory is no problem for me, so its magical optics make it as comfortable or more comfortable for me than the Zeiss 8x32 FL or Leica 8x32 bins. It takes my 8.5x42 to do better than the little Zeiss. That particular 8x25 is also a huge step up in optical performance and handling from any 8x20, in my experience. These comparisons are exactly why I consider it so extraordinary in the history of binoculars. It somehow (through wormholes?) crosses thresholds of performance that I didn't experience previously in the world of incremental differences that existed prior to its arrival in our universe.

The point i'm making is that I agree the VP8x25 is a superb optic, and better to look through than an 8x20. I love the VP, and the single hinge design in use... it is superb, although looks a tad quirky!! But what a fantastic 'SMALL' bino it is !!

But it cannot slip into a jeans pocket in a cloth case and be there, hardly noticed, by the user, or infact anyone else! It is not discreet like a twin hinge 8x20.

So for folk looking for advice, the fact remains, that an 8x25 is better than an 8x20... unless you want true pocketability.
At this point the 8x25 single hinge FAILS .... and its' optical superiority takes second place for someone who values that tiny form factor of a twin hinge 8x20.

The OP asked for 'pocket bino experience' and the Zeiss VP 8x25 is not a true pocket bino.
Just look at them side by side, or try a VP8x25 in jeans pockets..... not a coat pocket, I can get 8x32's in a coat pocket...

But the VP8x25 is without doubt, a standout small binocular.

Got to admit that it is indeed a cracking little big bino. Little because it is small and fits in my Paramo Jacket, and big because its size belies its amazing big bino view.

I have resisted buying one after the disasterous Hungarian made one I had years ago but Zeiss have really upped their game with this MIJ wonder and it was at an amazing price plus cashback. Eyecups are not ideal but a Bino Bandit works wonders and as Amazon deigned to send me just one of a pair of winged eyecups, I will have to wait for a replacement pair and see if they work.

It is a lovely bino, not too fussed about it being a bit bulky as all of my jackets and fleeces have Tardis like pockets.

(But I still think the Curio is the dogs wotsits in the compact bino game. YMMD).

I would not keep it in your jacket.
I only to that for short time and then hang around my neck. Normally i keep it in my day pack and then hang around my neck

If you put it in your pockets yes.
But its a bit less in view
