Nikon Monarch 5 (1 Viewer)

Hi and welcome.

Any binocular is good for night time viewing.

So long as it is clean and well aligned.

Normally 10x50 binoculars are recommended.

10x42 or 8x42 also.

Much more important is a dark sky.

Regards,
B.

Monarch 5 is imho the best bin under $500. Great glass...BUT it has a somewhat narrow FOV for night sky viewing. From my perspective as a wildlife observer they are as good as the Monarch 7...as they are tack sharp edge to edge unlike the 7 which has a wider FOV but drops off significantly outside of the sweet spot.

Under $500 for my money Id go Monarch 5. Over $500 id go Tract Torric all day...and you can't do better than the tract for less than 2k in a roof prism imho.
