Hi, another Droll Yankees fan I see. I have the Finch Flocker and want the Onyx too, but need to save some pennys first. Never seen a Brambling either.
Yes the Droll Yankees are very attractive feeders. They are expensive but importantly extremely robust. The onyx 4-port feeder was to replace a DY Classic A6 feeder which is about 17 years old and still in excellent condition. The A6 is just a tad small and requires filling every half day during this Winter weather. Also the onyx feeder has the all-round perches which are preferable for the birds, plus the easy-clean facility. That said I won't be updating the more conventional yellow goldfinch flocker which has been hugely successful for the 5 years I've had it for goldfinch, siskin and redpoll, despite there being an onyx version of this too. The nyger seed lasts longer than the sunflower hearts as it is only used by the tiny finches.
