Maerkische Schweiz(Berlin/ Brandenburg) - BirdForum Opus

Maerkische Schweiz

Area is near railway direction Berlin - Kostryn station Muencheberg. Information and tourists centre are in Buckow. The area has different landscapes like hills until 130 m, small rivers and some lakes. Most well known is lake Kietzer See nearby Altfriedland. In autumn are a couple of tousend gooses there. But also other birds like Black stork Herring Gull White-tailed Eagle Pochard Sholever [Tufted Duck]] and a lot of birds which live in the reed

Nature parc consists 5,2 squarekilomters lakes 109.4 sq forest 69,4 sq agriculture 10,4 sq meadows 10,6 sq villages

more than 1000 different plants 246 different birds ( lots of forest birds ) 60 different butterflies 129 different mussels and snails 11 different bats

also livingplace of rare turtle Emys orbicularis

Cycling tour at 23.07. ( 17 centigrads, mostly covered, medium windy ) Strausberg - Buckow - Altfriedland - round the lakes - Muencheberg
