Notable Species
In winter, regularly a few Brent Geese, 25+ Little Grebes on the meanders, 500+ Wigeon, 100+ Teal, a few Redshank, Curlew, Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Snipe, sometimes Dunlin and Golden Plover.
In Spring Sand Martins, Swallows, Scandinavian Rock Pipit, Water Pipit, Chiffchaff and sometimes Garganey and Little Ringed Plover. From Mid-March, Whimbrel, Common Greenshank, Sandwich and Common Tern, Whitethroat, Willow, Grasshopper, Reed and Sedge Warblers, Dunlin, Common Sandpiper and both Godwits from April, Swift and possibly mediterranean overshoots in May.
In summer breeding Wheatear, Ringed Plover, Shelduck, Greater Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, Reed and Sedge Warblers and Chiffchaff
in Autumn migrating chats, warblers and wagtails from August, waders from July, finches, thrushes and larks from October.
Rarities
Recent rarities include Glossy Ibis - one seen very briefly on 28 September 2009. Black-winged Stilt - one for a few days in May 2005 and Great White Egret - one from 21-25 October 2000
1960-1990 records for Purple Heron, Night Heron, Cattle Egret, Pectoral Sandpiper, Ring-necked Duck, Bluethroat, Red-throated Pipit, Marsh Sandpiper and several other rarities.
Local rarities: nearly Annual records of Scandinavian Rock and Water Pipits from mid-march to mid-april. A Scaup and two Goldeneye present in January 2010. There are occasional autumn records of Wood Sandpiper.

Other Wildlife
Wasp Spider in some of the ditches. Butterflies include Marbled White and Chalkhill Blue. There is a wide variety of dragonfly/damselfly species.
Common/Grey Seal sometimes seen offshore, other mammals including Badger, Fox, Hedgehog, Stoat, Weasel and of course Rabbit!
