Overview

These two nature reserves in the far south of Sweden consist of shallow lakes and flooded meadowland, meandering streams and marshlands. There are extensive reedbeds, especially around Lake Krankesjön, and woodland and scrub of alder and willow.

Birds

Notable Species

The area boasts a wide range of breeding wetland birds including Great Bittern and Black-necked Grebe and various waterfowl and waders.

Also important for passage birds, there are good numbers of Whooper Swan and Greater White-fronted Goose in autumn as well as many species of wader.

Wintering raptors often include Red Kite, Hen Harrier, White-tailed Eagle and Golden Eagle.

The area lies only a short distance inland from Falsterbo, between the villages of Revinge and Silvåkra, and can conveniently be combined with a visit there. Easily reached by road from Malmö.
