Sweden

Overview

On the west coast of Öland around an old causeway, Beijershamn has marshes and reedbeds with a good range of breeding birds and wide variety of waders on passage.

Birds

Notable Species

Breeding birds include Marsh Harrier and Ruff and Black Tern, Arctic Tern and Little Tern. Caspian Tern is often seen in summer and the reedbeds hold Bearded Tit, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler and sometimes Marsh Warbler in summer.

During passage periods a wide variety of waterfowl and waders can be seen sometimes including Temminck's Stint and Broad-billed Sandpiper.

In nearby woods and scrub there are Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Thrush Nightingale, Icterine Warbler and Barred Warbler.
